- How many of you girls have played with a Rubik’s Cube before? You know, those cubes that seem like toys with tons of colored squares on them? The idea is to get every side of the cube to be one color, but it’s a lot harder than it looks to do this. Know what I’m talking about yet?
- Well, some Swedish researchers have recently come forth with some “evidence” that the earth’s core is shaped like a Rubik’s cube. I know, I know, this sounds like something completely taken out of a science fiction movie, but they are pretty set on their conclusions.
- For a long time now, people have known that the inner core of the earth is a sphere that is made up of mostly solid iron. But for it to be shaped and able to work like a Rubik’s Cube? Anyone here think that’s stretching the idea of this cool toy a little too far? I kind of do.
- However, the actual Rubik’s Cube is a pretty cool thing.
- It’s technically what is called a mechanical puzzle. It was invented in 1974 by a guy named Emo Rubik. Go figure. It is one of the world’s best selling toys and has been sold world wide since it was invented. People have seemed to sort of obsess over how exactly to solve this puzzle since it was invented. Many different ways of accomplishing this have come up and on top of that, people seem to like to compete with times for completing this, as well.
